Tried downloading several free virus scans, but they all seemed to get hung up while downloading the scanning tools. Perhaps my virus has an exceptionally good immune system?
My Windows Live One Care Subscription expired, and Windows has stopped selling One Care. Thinking that something in the OneCare suite of programs might be blocking the download of Norton's and Trend Micro's
tool sets, I clicked on the "Uninstall" button (and got a notice that it was being "perpetually" uninstalled). It didn't seem to help.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a free virus scan and removal?
I'll also be needing a decent, inexpensive virus protection system ins-talled.
Y'all did such a great job advising me about my chickens, thought I'd give this a shot.
MALWARE is big on the scene these days. There are free malware killers out there at sites like cnet, znet, pcworld, etc. A one time killer for malware. I was really infected and my computer was doing all kinds of crazy things.
I use free AVIRA for my virus protection. They do have a pay program and I may eventually have to pay but right now I have had no problems with my puter since downloading it. It does keep malware from your puter. Just google free avira. Many anti virus programs do not kill malware, keep that in mind when looking for a good anti virus program. You might ask "why download a malware killer and then avira if avira kills it"? I just wanted to get the malware OUT OF THERE. It really was playing havoc with my puter and I felt that I might not even be able to get a good download of a virus killer with the malware still there. I also had problems with the popular spy wares like spybot, and there are a few that start with an A. I will try to get there names for you if you are interested.
Good luck.
