Since our beloved country is still not a theocracy, the prez should NOT pander to any religion.
Article six in our constitution forbids a religious "test" as a requirement for holding a governmental position. I'd rather have an excellent atheist leader over a poor leader who is religious. After all he is not a pope or bishop or deacon, elder or church figure. I HOPE!

Obama was reared a Christian. he grew up with his grandparents in Hawaii. he is not an atheist. who is trying to stop your religion? what laws have been changed in this regard?

perhaps you should read Obama's book before you make statments that O himself would refute. specifically where and how he "grew up" what schools he went to and where and what religion he practiced for years. and note that one does not have to be an atheist to try to stop another person's religion.
as for defense and bringing the troops home. please note that more of them are being 're-located' or sent elsewhere. the BS about 'bringing home the troops (which i am for BTW) is just that! There might be a few who think that history indicates mixing religion and politics hasn't worked out so well. A few.
Don't know if you have noticed, but when he was running for prez, he didn't wear a flag lapel pin, while the others certainly did. Then, I noticed that AFTER winning the election, he did wear one but the others stopped.
One can USE symbols and religion to campaign and there are always individuals who make a huge friggin deal out of this surface SCHTUFF and actually do vote on such trivia.

as for the flag pin or salute. it is up to him. some people just believe that one should salute etc. the pin bit? a personal preference i think. and i'm sure there were germans who saluted the Nazi flag also. the preferance was meant to be 'respect' for the USA flag over any other. and i don't think i've seen O salute any other so that was just a comment. you know, what you did?(cateq)

i have read Obama's books have you? of course the troops are relocated. do you want them all to be made redundant and add to the jobless? they just won't be sent to a war zone. that's the point. i parrot no one. do you watch Fox? perhaps that is the problem.
There have been several instances in which O has NOT saluted the flag or even put his hand over his heart...
He spent his early school years in Indonesia after this mother married a Muslim and moved there with him.
His mother brought him back to live with her parents and then returned to Indonesia with his half sister.
O was abandoned by his father when he was an infant and then abandoned by his mother when he was ten years old.
His grandparents were socialists and so were their friends so O was surrounded by socialism while he lived with his grandparents.
Our armed services could be posted ON OUR SOUTHERN BORDERS TO STOP THE SMUGGLING OF PEOPLE AND DRUGS FLOODING INTO OUR COUNTRY.
They would not be unemployed if they were dispersed along our coast lines as well as our land borders to prevent the current
invasion of foreign citizens from entering our country illegally. We pay our military personnel to protect and defend OUR COUNTRY NOT TO POLICE THE WORLD! LET'S USE OUR MILITARY TO ACTUALLY PROTECT AND DEFEND OUR COUNTRY FROM ALL INVADERS.
I just watched the movie, "Crossing Over" (with Harrison Ford) a couple of nights ago. Here in the sticks, we don't see this side of illegal immigration. It seemed very accurate in its portrayal, and it was a tough movie to watch, but I would highly recommend it. Problems, problems. I'm glad I'm not one who needs to make decisions on a "fix".
I don't know if a change to the 14th amendment would help - but, it might keep families from being ripped apart when deported. Is there a way to keep our laws and yet be humane to those who've broken them in this way? Even Perry seemed to consider this "humane" aspect, and it looks like it led to his plunge in the polls.
Does law enforcement go after the "job creators" who hire illegals to any extent? The movie didn't portray that aspect.
