The housing industry was a complete shambles when he took office. It is in recovery now.

The auto industry was close to bankruptcy, they are not now.

We were in a depression/recession, things are better now although not out of the woods. We are in recovery.

Osama is dead!

Soldiers are returning from the war as of 12/31/2011, THIS THE BEST OF HIS ACHIEVEMENTS!

Unemployment is slow go but as long as the economy has not recovered it will remain slow.

He has established a new health program to take affect, a great accomplishment if you consider what past pres. haven't done.

Much investigation has taken place with the banks and wall streets involvement in the housing scandal and is on going.

All was inherited by BO and he has done well on these fronts.

NO HELP FROM THE REPUB CONGRESS!

I know that none of you repubs will admit to any of this, that's okay. The facts are there whether you want to accept them or not. The repubs have done nothing but stand in his way but he has still achieved these things despite their opposition.

Well, if that's the best the Democrats can do at touting his accomplishments, I gotta say it's a pretty limp list.
- "The housing insutry... in recovery now." Give credit to B.O. if you want, but despite his attempts to jigger the housing industry, nothing worked until Ben Bernanke kept flooding the economy with snap-of-the-finger dollars, keeping interest rates at atificially rock-bottom levels, and swearing he would keep doing it till things got better. People are starting to buy houses (not at recovery rates) because they can get 30-year mortgages at 3%, which means, since the inflation rate is above 3%, they are getting the money for free. B.O. had nothing to do with it. Not an Accomplishment.
- "The auto...not now." Industries don't go bankrupt, companies do. Ford was healthy, GM and Chrysler were on the ropes. They should have been allowed to go through a normal bankruptcy; they would have been restructured under the court's protection, probably never missing a day's operation, and come out stronger, having been released from exhorbitant union contracts that were bleeding them dry. Instead, Obama steps in, forcing a "special" bankruptcy overseen by the government, not the courts. Chrysler gets sold to Fiat, but not until Obama screws the bondholders out of 70% of their money. GM's stock ended up 30% in the hands of the unions, which kept their pensions, 60% owned by the government, 10% in the hands of the executives. Shareholders and bondholders got totally screwed, as did the non-union workers, who were stripped naked. GM closed down its most profitable division, Saturn, whose workers were also non-union, instead of selling it off. Considering all the people who got screwed in all the exta-legal shenanigans, if you want to call this an accomplishment, go ahead. It certainly does have B.O.'s fingerprints all over it, unlike housing. I think it stinks.
- "We were in a depression...in recovery." As stated above, inflation is over 3%, "growth" is under 2%. That's not a recovery. Not an Accomplishment.
- "Osama is dead" Yay. After everybody else set everything up, B.O. gave the "go ahead" order. It would be impossible to justify doing anything else. And then he lied about how it went down, and ordered the military to cooperate with his Hollywood buddies in making a film, set for October release, designed to make him look good just in time for the election. But go ahead, take this one; after all, he did give the "go ahead" order.
- "Soldiers..." We're all happy for everone who makes it home. But they are coming home according to the schedule laid out by Bush, not according to B.O's campaign promise schedule.
But go ahead, you can have this one, too.
- "Unemployment... remain slow" Unemployment is much higher than the official numbers show. Every month the jobs report gives an estimate of the jobs created the previous month, and revises downward the estimate from the month before. And every month they stop counting hundreds of thousands of unemployed people who were counted the month before, simply because they have run out of unempl. benefits, and are considered "no longer looking for work". They still don't have jobs, they just don't count to B.O. anymore. By just not counting people, they have managed to shrink the "official" workforce by 12 million people since Obama occupied the Oval Office. Yup, Democrats are for the "little guy". Phony numbers = Not an Accomplishment.
- "He has established..." I understand why you think this is an accomplishment. I think it's a disaster.
- "Much investigation..." I'm sorry to have to inform you that this is a delusion foisted by the Democrat propaganda machine. Not one bankster has been charged. and under B.O., not one bankster ever will be charged. Obama's administration is riddled with Wall Street banksters. Not an Accomplishment.
- "All was inherited..." That argument is sooo stale after four years. If you think he has done well, you should vote for him.

But you should consider this: if you believe the birth certificate posted on the White House website is real, then it PROVES Obama is not eligible to be President. The Constitutional requirements for President are : at least 35 years of age. OK on that score. 14 years resident. OK on that score. And "a natural-born citizen". Oops. "Natural-born citizen" has a legal definition: one whose parents were BOTH citizens at the time of the child's birth.
The White House birth certificate says Barack Obama's father was not a U.S. citizen.

So if you are determined to vote for Obama, anyway, know that you are leaving your integrity outside the door when you walk into that polling place.

Oh, wait - we forgot his most significant accomplishment: adding 6 trillion dollars to the National debt in just under 4 years. Unprecedented! Historical!

What is it they say? "You have to spend money to make money" Everyone was so happy when the auto industry, wall street and the banks were saved. So now the complaint is the money that was spend to save them. It's all about who is doing it. Another president would have done the same thing with a lot less righteous indignation.

The phrase "You have to spend money to make money" applies to money-making enterprises. Government is not a money-making enterprise. It is a money-spending entity. It consumes wealth that is produced in the private sector of the economy. It does not produce wealth.
The DEBT that government produces must be paid off with more wealth produced by the private sector. In the case of $16,000,000,000,000.00, that debt cannot be paid back in this generation without crushing financial pain. That means, if you have grandkids, that it will be your grandchildren who are paying off the money we are spending in deficit today to bail out banks, auto industries, insurance companies, etc, which put themselves in a position of "get a bailout or go bust" by OVERSPENDING. And that's only IF we stop spending in deficit NOW. If we keep spending in trillion dollar deficit as Obama's budgets propose, our grandchildren's grandchildren will be slaves to the Federal government's debt.

"Everyone was so happy when the auto industry, wall street (sic)and the banks were saved." Speak for yourself, and your friends, if you want. I was outraged, and loyal Democrats I know were very nervous at the idea of giving billions of dollars to Wall Street and commercial banks and AIG. That outrage was compounded when we saw that they were being so flooded with bailout money that they took the whole executive crew off to exclusive resorts for extravagant days-long parties WITH THE BAILOUT MONEY!!! You are correct: the complaint now is the money that was spent to save them, exactly the same complaint as when the proposals were being debated.

"It's all about who is doing it." The Toxic Asset Relief Program (TARP) was proposed by Bush before the election. I think his motive was less to "save" Wall Street than to not leave the next President, whoever it was going to be, with the crumbling rubble of a once-great economy. I think he was wrong. I think if Goldman Sachs, Chase Manhattan, and AIG, and Fannie and Freddie, had been allowed to crash and burn, that would have been a good thing - an automatic downsizing of the worst offenders in ('tho not the authors of) the housing bubble. As to the auto industry, you already know from my last post that I was not "happy" about that, and that was Obama bailing out his union buddies. So, no, it's not all about who's doing it. And as I've just shown, another President DID do the same thing.
How's your "righteous indignation level" meter working?

The following is not mine but I applaud the time it took to put it together. I can hear the cries of denial from you 3 but oh well. You can't teach an old dog......Stubbornness is to the bone. It even has links to which you don't believe in putting truth to your posts.

"If you're one of those who thinks President Obama is a "disappointment," my condolences for you not getting your unicorn. And it's time to grow up, and get over it. We have a little over a month to go before an election that will feature more political ads than you have ever seen before. We don't just have to beat Willard Romney; we also have to beat Citizens United. There will be TWO choices for president; it's not a smorgasbord. You can either work for Obama and every other Democrat (yes, including Blue Dogs), or you can sit back and watch Willard Romney complete the job of taking apart the social fabric of the country that was first undertaken by Ronald Reagan 32 years ago. That is your choice.

What makes the "disappointment" argument even more irritating is that it's simply not true. He's done nearly everything we elect a president to do, and he did it all with little support from the left, and massive obstruction from the right.

Is he perfect? No, he's human. Does he deserve some criticism? Of course, but at this point, it really doesn't matter.

What does matter is that this president has compiled a STELLAR record given the circumstances under which he took office. If you can look at this list of the president's accomplishments and not be excited, you have a serious problem with perspective.

Pass this list around to everyone you know. And don't be afraid; unlike many such lists, every item includes a link to a citation supporting it.

This Just Reminded Me Of CATCHING PIGS

There was a chemistry professor in a large college
that had some exchange students in the class. One day
while the class was in the lab, the Prof noticed one
young man, an exchange student, who kept rubbing his
back and stretching as if his back hurt.

The professor asked the young man what was the matter.

The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back.
He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were
trying to overthrow his country's government and install a new
communist regime.

In the midst of history, he looked at the professor
and asked a strange question He asked:
"Do you know how to catch wild pigs?"
The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the
punch line. The young man said that it was no joke.
"You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in
the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs
find it and begin to come everyday to eat the free
corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put
a fence down one side of the place where they are used
to coming.

When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the
corn again and you put up another side of the fence.
They get used to that and start to eat again. You
continue until you have all four sides of the fence up
with a gate in the last side.
The pigs, which are used to the free corn, start to
come through the gate to eat that free corn again.
You then slam the gate on them and catch the whole
herd. Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom.
They run around and around inside the fence, but they
are caught.

Soon they go back to eating the free corn . They are so used to it that
they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so
they accept their captivity."

The young man then told the professor that is exactly
what he sees happening in America .. The government
keeps pushing us toward Communism/Socialism and keeps
spreading the free corn out in the form of programs
such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned
income, , tax exemptions, tobacco subsidies,
dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP),
welfare, medicine, drugs, etc. while we continually
lose our freedoms, just a little at a time.
One should always remember two truths:

#1) There is no such thing as a free lunch, someone is
paying for it

#2) and when you begin to think that having your government
provide for you and make your decisions is ok, realize that
you have also given up the freedom that goes with making your own
choices.

If you see that all of this wonderful government
'help' is a problem confronting the future of
democracy in America , you might want to send this on
to your friends.

If you think the carefree ride is essential
to your way of life, then you will probably delete
this post.

But God help you when the gate slams shut!=============

In post # 2 of this thread I conceded credit to Obama for giving the "go ahead" order to kill Osama bin Laden. Now more facts have come out that show that common assumption was wrong. It turns out that because of numerous previous Obama decisions NOT to kill Osama, this time he was kept out of the loop. Credit for the decision to kill Osama should instead go to Hillary Clinton and Leon Panetta. Obama was not even informed of the operation until the helicopters were in Pakistani airspace.
And then, perhaps in a fit of pique over being kept in the dark, the treasonous Obama administration leaked the identity of the key Pakistani source responsible for locating Osama to the New York Times. Perhaps fortunately for him, the Pakistani authorities got to him before the Osama-lovers, and he now sits in prison, where we can only pray that the authorities will provide him with extraordinary security to protect his life.
